これだけ傷はありますが、時代を超越した良いお顔と時代を経てきた良さを感じさせますね。 |

Dohachi Ofuku sculpture
The Dohachi is a famous potter family from Kyoto starting in the 18th century.
This is a sculpture of Ofuku. She is the goddess of mirth and folly, personification of ugly good?natured woman. She is also known as Okame, Uzume or Otafuku, but always wears that same malicious smile!
Under the sculpture the artist signature reads “Kachutei Dohachi”. Kachutei essentially used by the third generation of Dohachi potter (1811-1879). His son, Dohachi IV also used the Kachutei signature, but was less involved in pottery sculpture, so this is most likely a work of Dohachi III.
